Four Generations Photo Shoot

I had the privilege of photographing my dear friend from high school last Saturday, along with her mom, her daughter, and her granddaughter. 4 generations of beautiful females. How lucky they are to be together and to be able to formally document this point in time.

I have seen my friend over the years but have not seen her mom since my friend was married many years ago. It really brought me back. I have seen many photos of my friend’s daughter but did not realize she looks exactly like her mom until I met her in person. Now she has a daughter of her own—the cutest 2-year-old assistant I ever had. And I wondered how we went all these years without having met each other’s children.

I have a “no regrets” policy in life (taught to me by another friend), but life gets in the way sometimes. I find that you don’t regret the things you DO, but the things you DON’T do.

As I looked through the lens at the 4 of them, I was reminded why I do this. I had to push away the feels because it would be bad for the photographer to cry in the middle of a photo shoot. None of us know what tomorrow will bring. Don’t put things off. Tell the people you love how you feel. Get your family portrait done. Have a generations portrait taken.

This little girl will be able to give these prints to her greatgrandchildren. How amazing is that?
